14% of the population have HIV/AIDS. In some areas it is as high as 25%.  
 

 

Orphans & Vulnerable Children  

1 in 8 children die before age 5. There are 1 million orphans in a population of 12 million.
 

 

Pregnancy & Under-5 Program

984 out of 100,000 mothers die during childbirth. This is one of the highest rates in the world.
   


There are less than 300 doctors for the entire population of Malawi.
